It is so crazy how quickly Brayden is growing up and how quickly he's learning and picking stuff up. Per a conversation with our pediatrician we started giving Brayden cereal at the beginning of August. He really seemed to like it and all was going well until I began to realize that he was getting constipated and wasn't sleeping the greatest at night because it seemed as though he wasn't comfortable. So, we've recently decided to hold off on the food for while as he still seems happy and content with 5-7 ounces of breast milk at each feeding. But still...it was fun seeing him eat off a spoon.
It wasn't days later that Brayden officially found his feet/toes and they're quite entertaining and apparently they taste pretty good too!

We also had a little bit of a scare this month as well. Before I went to bed a few weeks ago I noticed that Brayden was snoring pretty loud, when I checked on him I could really hear him wheezing and then he started coughing. When I picked him up to make sure he was okay, he had huge tears in his eyes and was having a hard time breathing, really wheezing and had a horrible barking cough. I called my Mom and she informed me to call the pediatrician. Of course it was 12am, so I got transferred to a nurse at Children's Hospital. After hearing Brayden she informed me that I needed to call paramedics immediately and have him transferred via ambulance to the emergency room, she said he had a severe case of croup, which is the swelling of the vocal cords. This is super dangerous in little ones because their vocal cords are so little that it wouldn't take much for them to swell shut. Paramedics responded quickly and put Brayden on a nebulizer, which helped almost immediately, but they still encouraged us to go to the ER. They gave Brayden a steroid to help with the swelling and monitored him for a while and then let us go...a few hours later. So, it was a long night to say the least...hence the crazy braided hair, dark circles and no makeup.
In addition to Brayden growing like a weed physically, mentally he's also progressing, which is so much fun to watch. It's so amazing to me how well he can grab items, he can follow your voice and we're pretty sure he knows his name. He also started giggling a few weeks ago, which literally made me cry. It was like a sneak peak into what his little voice is going to sound like. Peek-a-boo is just hilarious for him right now. He growls every once in a while and really likes hearing his voice, so he can get pretty loud sometimes. He still eats about every 3 hours during the day and about every 4-8 during the night. He has a bedtime of about 7:30pm and we really do our best to make sure he's down by then...consistency! I'm working on really getting consistent in hopes that he'll start sleeping through the night soon. I'm really only getting up once a night to feed him, which isn't terrible, but still...I'd love to sleep strait through the night, again. All in time. :)
On the 15th of August, Brayden turned 20 weeks. I saw this cute thing on Pinterest, that I had to recreate!
Here's his 5 month pictures.
Some other fun pictures from August 2013.
Last, but certainly not least...look how my little bug has grown.
