Brayden - 12 Months

ONE year old!?!?  Are you freakin' kidding me?  How did that happen, where did the time go?  Brayden is so much fun right now, but I miss my little, tiny baby.  On his birthday-eve Geoff and I kept saying, think about us one year ago, right now.  We were eating dinner, we decided to name him, Brayden Drake, we went to bed just like every other night and BAM at 2am my water broke!  :)  So, crazy how time flies.

Hands down, this has been the best year of my life.  Brayden has been such a blessing, a joy and for me I got a huge sense of fulfillment.  It was almost like this is what I was meant to do, I was meant to be a Mom and I couldn't be happier.  I love my little man more than the world and I cannot wait for the years ahead because I know it's only going to get better.  Is that possible?
I'm going to do my regular monthly post and then I'll do a separate post with his birthday party fun!

Weight:  24lbs 2oz
Height:  30.5in.

Brayden is still getting 3 bottles a day (7-8oz).  Still breast milk...BOO-YAH!  I made it to the one year mark!  However starting any day we will start implementing cows milk and my days of pumping will be a thing of the past.  (I act like it's no biggie, but I have moments of feeling like Brayden won't need me now!)

He's also getting three meals a day.  We tried oatmeal again recently, as he had a little reaction to it when he was younger so we've been hesitant.  All went well and he loved it, so that's a great little bonus that we've added to our breakfast ritual.  As far as lunch and dinner are concerned it's mostly table food now.  I occasionally do a jar of baby food, more out of convenience, but I'm really trying to make that transition to get away from baby food.  We've also transitioned to more of the pouch fruits and veggies which are super handy.  And you know now that Brayden is one, that magic switch went off, so we'll be able to try a handful of different things now.  He is still a little weird about texture, for example he loves french fries, but dislikes fried potatoes or mashed.  Really, kid?  haha!

We've been so good about putting Brayden down at 7:30pm, at the latest and it's worked wonders.  It's amazing what consistency can do.  Of course we have nights here and there where Brayden is just in a funk and doesn't sleep well, but for the most part we'll put him down at 7:30pm and he'll get up between 6:45am and 7am.

Some of his firsts this month.  We took his pacifier away...kind of.  So we decided to take the pacy away as I didn't feel like this was a comfort item of his.  He was only getting his pacy during naps and at night if he woke up.  So we went a full week with no pacy at all and then all of a sudden Brayden quit sleeping through the night and after several sleepless nights, I gave in and gave him his pacy in the middle of the night.  The kicker...come to find out that probably wasn't even the issue, but it helped soothe him a little.  So as of right now, he does only get his pacy if he wakes up in the middle of the night and I can't get him to go back down.

Daddy also taught him how to stick his tongue out, so he thinks that's funny.

He walks along everything and will occasionally stand on his own for a few seconds, he'll walk if you hold his hands, but no walking on his own yet.  He can open the cabinets, so we'll be adding some cabinet holders soon!  He loves to push his toy cars around and has started to like his stuffed animals.

My sweet and very talented Lis, came over to our house recently to take Brayden's 1 year pictures.  Here's a few of our favorites.  (The picture at the top of this blog is also one that she took!)
