We could not be happier and feel more blessed than we do right now. We have a healthy, happy baby boy. God is good! So, before Mom-nesia really sets in, I wanted to document Brayden's birth story.
So let's back up a bit on Wednesday, March 27th as I drove to work I told Geoff and my Mom that the baby felt extremely low. I kept mentioning like I felt like I was squishing his head he felt so low...but I continued on with my day. At dinner that evening, I mentioned this to Geoff again and then I told him that I really wanted us to decide on our little boy's name because I was tired of him being name-less. So, Brayden Drake McCoy was decided!
Let's fast-forward to 2am. I had just gotten up at 1am to take my nightly potty break, all of a sudden at 2am I was awaken with the urge to go to the bathroom again. I was super annoyed and decided to be stubborn because there was NO way I had to go to the bathroom again. All of a sudden...I felt like I was peeing the bed. So I jumped up and ran to the bathroom and fluid just started coming out. I was pretty sure...my water just broke. So I yelled at Geoff and said, 'Geoff, I think my water just broke.' He said, 'Are you kidding me?' Haha. I decided I better call my Dr. just to get her opinion as to whether or not I needed to go to the hospital. After describing my symptoms (which didn't include contractions) she informed me that I should probably head to the hospital. We gathered all our bags...in a total daze and I told Geoff that we'd probably be sent home because I just peed my pants or something. Haha. I called my Mom and told her that I was pretty sure my water had broke and to probably think about driving up. She thought she had some time. We arrived at the hospital around 3am...by the time I got all situated they checked me and I was 4cm dilated. WHAT? Then the contractions really started to pick up, I was most comfortable standing, however the little boy did not like that and they were having a hard time getting his heart beat, so I had to lay on my side, which I swear made my contractions 1000x worse. I can remember looking at Geoff saying, 'ouch, ouch, ouch!' Two hours later around 6am she decided to check me again and I was already 6cm, but I was in quite a bit of pain. At that point I decided to go for the epidural. (Just a side note...getting an epidural is not painful, I had heard horror stories about it) Shortly after I got the epidural she checked me again and told me they were going to start prepping me to start pushing. Umm...okay!
And by 8:27am Brayden Drake McCoy made his debut. He's perfect. Neither of our parents were able to make it for the actual birth, however my parents did arrive around 11am and Geoff's shortly afterwards. I can vividly remember the nurse telling me, 'Just so you know, this NEVER happens with first time Moms. They never deliver this quickly.' Guess I'm one of the lucky ones...
Prepare for photo overload!
