LITmas

As I've mentioned many times before I'm part of a book club, an awesome book club.  A few years ago when I started working at Rachel's Challenge, I became good friends with Dana, who had recently started a book club with her friends and she invited me.  Thankfully I passed the entrance exam.  whew!  I believe we're coming up on our 5 year anniversary of being a book club, which is pretty incredible.  Anyways...every year December is a 'free' month so you can read whatever your heart desires and we celebrate Christmas, or as we like to call it, LITmas.  (Which is a combo between our bookclub name, LIT - Lost in Translation and Christmas) It's just a great time for us to all get together, eat good food, laugh, reminisce about good and not-so-good books and enjoy the season of Christmas!

This past weekend we had our 2012 LITmas celebration (sorry for the delayed post) and it was a blast!!  Keechia and Sabrina hosted and they did a fabulous job!

Not only was the food good (Kee, I loved your spicy enchiladas), but they had great activities planned for us as well!

There were three different stations set up, the first one was a popcorn station.  There were 4 different types of popcorn that they made and we filled a tub with popcorn for our family and then one for a neighbor.  (My neighbor, Tonette was thrilled because her favorite snack is popcorn, SCORE!)  There was hot chocolate, thin mint, party and orange, cranberry, almond popcorn.  Delish!

We then had a station where you made white chocolate dipped Oreo's sprinkled with candy canes.  They were delightful I tell you!

And last, but certainly not least we had a bottle-cap necklace making station.  Keechia had already put together a wonderful collection of interchangeable magnets for our necklace, but you could make a few more and you had to make the actual bottle-cap portion.  Too cute!

I walked out of there with a bag full of goodies...and some sweet gifts as well.  Sabrina made each of us an ornament with our initial on it and curls of book pages on the inside.  Sandi had her book, Why I Love You printed and we each got a copy, hot off the press!!  And I also decided at the very last stinking moment to make something for all the girls as well.  I kept going back and forth...but decided to make this mulling spice.  I was so pleased with how they turned out and I've been burning mine on and off for a few days now and it smells delightful and so Christmas-y!

Sorry...I've been too lazy to download my good pictures so cell phone pics it is!
I literally feel so blessed to be a part of this special group of girls.  We're so, so much more than just a book club, we're friends and we'd do anything for each other.  We've been through the ups and downs of each one of our lives and we still continue to stick together!  I thank the Lord every day for such a great group of girlfriends that are REAL.  So...here's to a great year and many more years to look forward to!  Cheers!

Bump update to come tomorrow!
