Here’s a little more about us. We both grew up in southwestern Colorado and yet we managed to go to rival schools. I went to Ignacio, GO BOBCATS and Geoff went to Bayfield (yuck). It still amazes me how that rivalry still runs through my veins. We started dating when we were seniors in high school, so yes…I do call ourselves “high school sweet-hearts.” (Insert…ahhh sound effect here) I enjoyed being raised in a small town, however it took me moving away to realize that. The sense of community is like nothing a big city will ever be able to compete with.
However, I was ready to tackle the big city and Metropolitan State College of Denver was my destination. I moved up here in July of 2004, by myself, however 3 months later…although he wasn’t thrilled about being in the city, Geoff followed suit. Long story short…I graduated from MSCD with a bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications in December of 2008. As I walked across that stage with pride and satisfaction…I knew this was only the beginning because days before my graduation my then boyfriend turned into my now fiancé and I had a sparkling diamond engagement ring that went perfectly with the royal blue cap and gown. Eight short months later, on August 22nd, 2009 I married my ‘high school sweet-heart’ at the Mt. Vernon Country Club in Golden, CO. About a month later we had our marriage blessed by the Catholic Church back at home. If that doesn’t say enough about my husband and his willingness to get married TWICE…I don’t know what will. J So, here we are in that thing called life.
College Degree – check
Marriage – check
House….
Geoff and I entered the vicious housing market in February 2010, it was a buyers’ market so how hard could this be, right? Wrong, so wrong. After 5 long months, at least 30 houses and one very patient, amazing realtor we finally landed out first home. It was all ours and what an amazing feeling. So, House – check!
We’re enjoying our lives in the suburbs. We’re both so blessed to have great jobs, a beautiful home and most importantly each other. A lot has gone on in the past 7 years, but we’re looking forward to what the future has to hold for us. We feel as though everything we're faced with on a daily basis is the start of a new chapter in our lives. So, here's to Chapter 1 of blogging. Cheers!
(Oh and for a quick explanation of ‘The Reel McCoy’s’ instead of ‘real’, I wanted to incorporate some of my husband’s flare…and like I mentioned he’s all about huntin’ and fishin’.)
Always,
Karissa
